The Internet Develops in All the Right Ways for Xavier Buyse

With the announcement that Google will shortly be buying mobile ad company Admob things could really hot up in the mobile ad space, with Google as did Xavier Buyse from ADS Media clearly seeing the opportunity increased connectivity presents. The development of this space is also shown in the maturing space for mobile touch screen devices which ADS Media’s CEO Xavier Buyse will hope continues. Touch screen is at the moment most people associate with the iPhone which has outperformed every other phone in the space with its sexy design and easy to use interface. In such a quickly expanding market though there is nothing to say that this trend will carry on as other businesses see the opportunity to claim themselves a piece of the action.

Advertising has long been comparable to some kind of mysterious art with a murky ROI, and the reason for this is very simple: It’s very hard for a client to determine who it is who actually views their adverts, let alone if the ads have any influence on anyone or not. Even though businesses spend a a huge amount of money every year on marketing, those adverts often end up being irrelevant to the people who see them. On average, Americans are exposed to to some three thousand essentially random sales pitches per day. Two-thirds of people canvassed in a huge case study said they felt “constantly bombarded” by ads, and many said the ads they are exposed to have little or no engagement value. No wonder so many consumers hate and ignore adverts, and so many companies feel gun-shy about spending in big campaigns.

The Internet has begun to change all that. The capacity to measure the impact of an advert simply by counting how many people click on it, and to link advertisements to search-engine results, in large part pushed Internet advertising to $9.6 billion in 2004, a 33% jump from 2004. Marketing on the phones of today is in for a great looking future; a fact which has not missed ADS Media’s CEO Xavier Buyse looking ahead to 2014, and the industry concerned with mobile ads is expected to grow a staggering $2 billion per annum. Mobile marketing has shown some really fantastic development throughout 2008, and 2009 so far in a space where spending overall is reducing year on year.
